A description could tell you St. Anne is a home, but the author would so much rather you come upon the unveiling bits as you read, page by page. Here’s what sits well enough to reveal: You know how sometimes in life things really do fall into place? Over and over now Celeste’s life brims with that ease. Full of people. Full of unfolding possibilities, mostly theirs. Even at her age though, Celeste’s in the thick of all that goes on, with Regoire, Celeste’s chef; Lorena and Chet, the ‘young people’ (age being relative from Celeste’s vantage); Sadie, the dancer; Mare, Celeste’s marimba partner; Claire, Celeste’s masseuse; Mulch, the gardener; Stuart, their deliveryman; Delaney, St. Anne’s new builder extraordinaire; and Thom. It’s not that the characters orbit St. Anne’s. In their time at St. Anne they seem to find a piece of themselves, and step ever more into who they each are. Enjoy your moments here. And when you’re approaching the end of Book One, rest easy. Two is out and Three is in the works.
